Universal Credit- Mixed Age couple- calculating amount due.
Hi,
I am trying to calculate the entitlement of a mixed age couple (0ne state pension age) to Universal Credit.
I gather from the UC regulations section 3(: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2013/376/regulation/3/made)
that the claim is made jointly.
I was unsure if I am interpreting the legislation correctly, does this mean that the joint standard allowance will be awarded?
Have received different answers from DWP staff in the past.
Thanks in advance

Yes definitely the couple allowance - it is Reg 3(2)(a) that applies = entitled to UC as joint claimants so couple allowance applies. It would be quite a punishment for mixed age couples otherwise - it’s worrying that DWP staff were not clear on this point.

Thanks for clarifying.
Sorry a question not a reply.
Mixed age couple but working age partner is NRPF in the circumstances no claim to UC but PC and HB?
