CTC/WTC was stopped november 2018 due to alleged cohabitation.
won appeal 29/10/19 - decision notice states client entitled to tax credits as for april 2018 - april 2019.
HMRC have paid her arrears for 2018/19 but refusing to pay arrears for 2019/20 and ongoing

this doesn’t seem fair but is it correct?

I have asked Tribunal to amend the decision notice to include ongoing entitlement and have complained to HMRC

thanks

Did the client do her renewal as normal?

Not necessarily.

A renewal would have been sent out to her unless HMRC were originally arguing that the cohabitation began prior to April 2018. Is that the case?

Either way you should be fine, but it’s probably worth working out where precisely you are holding. You should be able to tell by looking at the heading on the decision notice you have now received. Does it include the words “Final decision…”?
