Payments from charities

Can anyone think of any reason why a regular payment from a charity wouldn’t be disregarded for benefits? I’ve looked through the regs and DMG & it seems quite straightforward, but I want to ensure I haven’t missed something.

Thanks

Technically, by the legislation, payments from a charitable trust should probably count as income for Universal Credit. CPAG mention this (pg 128 of the 19/20 edition), but add that “it is not clear that the DWP intends the rules to work this way”. The ADM pretty much confirms that it wouldn’t count, and DWP in response to a FoI request also said this.
For other benefits, I believe you are correct.

Thanks Charles. I did notice the section in CPAG for UC. I don’t suppose you have a link to the FOI request?

See here. There is also a link to the ADM I mentioned in the reply.
