A report from the Welsh Assembly on Benefits in Wales: - options for better delivery

A broad look at the way that benefits could be improved in Wales.  Quite a lot of references to WRAC - Welfare Rights Advisers Cymru.

“These principles should be co-produced with people who claim these benefits and the wider Welsh public.”

” ... there should be a statutory duty placed on local authorities to provide benefits advice which aims to ensure people are claiming all benefits to which they are entitled.”

“the Welsh Government seeks the devolution of the assessment process for sickness and disability benefits”.

Steady on now.

Will be amusing to read the report back on trying to liaise with their English colleagues in a few months time.

Any chance of all of our English Local Authorities being forced to provide professional benefits advisors? Not that many around anymore. Kent CC at last count had two but they are not allowed to interact with the general public - you can only be signposted there if you are an active case with Social Services.
