PIP claim was made under SRTI but claimant is still with us and it is coming up to 3 years later. Does anyone know what the renewal process is for these claims?

If client is still eligible for a DS1500 then they can renew the claim under special rules, if not, client will need to make a standard claim for PIP (complete PIP2 and most likely medical assessment).

Client may want to get a new DS1500 from their GP/consultant/Clinical nurse specialist as the older one might be challenged on the basis it has been more than 6 months, so they need confirmation that client’s condition is still considered terminal.

Client could make a renewal claim within 6 months before the fixed period ends or the DWP may contact within a few months of it ending. Might be safer just to make a renewal claim within the 6 months rather than wait.

Thanks csmk, it was this bit I was wondering about. I will get him to contact DWP to do a renewal rather than wait and see if DWP invite him to.
