Striptease anyone?
Is this the “Full Monty?”
Kind of work you can do ...
Divines and tells fortunes by various means ....
Dances in adult entertainment establishments
Astrologer
Divines and tells fortunes by various means
In my fortune telling mode - is this real?
Or should I already know?
Sorry, where does this come from?
Must admit, I don’t really find it very funny to think about a woman claiming UC being told to consider working as a strip tease artist quite frankly, it’s very creepy and totally inappropriate.
The govt’s Find a job service turns up “No results found” for the suggested searches ‘striptease artist’ and ‘clapper boy’, though it does helpfully invite me to:

I agree Paul
But if you put in fortune teller, one of the options is banker

I understand this was a male client. Middle aged and bald according to my colleague.
That the government should even give the appearance of a suggestion that people should find work in the sexual exploitation industry is simply astonishing.
Hum. the job titles in the list are not unlike the virtually non-existent jobs that were provided as a matter of routine with Invalidity Benefit ‘fit for limited work’ decisions at appeal as potential jobs the claimant could undertake given their limitations such as egg grader, chicken sexer and lift attendant. Nothing much changes in DWP world!
For the fun of it we once surveyed how many potential lift attendant jobs might be available locally. There was one establishment (featured regularly in Inspector Morse) which still employed a lift attendant. Tribunals used to have great fun asking the Presenting Office (regular in those days) how frequently vacancies for the particular jobs submitted were advertised in local Jobcentre’s!
Certainly chick sexer is still on the list:
As is lift attendant:
Though there are no vacancies across the UK for the former: https://findajob.dwp.gov.uk/search?q=chick+sexer&w= ... and only 2 results for lift attendants, though neither are for lift attendants (they just happen to mention the words ‘lift’ and ‘attendant’ ): https://findajob.dwp.gov.uk/search?q=lift+attendant&w=UK
The job descriptions were taken from a directory of standard job title / descriptions used by the Dept of Employment for work force survey statistics and the like. The DWP then used them for IVB. Presumably a similar list is still used by National Statistics etc. for similar purposes hence the DWP list?
Although it appears ‘lion tamer’ (frequently quoted in UB/JSA training materials as an unrealistic preferred area of job search by UB/JSA claimants when considering the ‘actively seeking work’ condition) may no longer be included https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2018/feb/28/britains-last-lion-tamer-its-not-the-archaic-victorian-practice-people-imagine

Clearly not Paul….
Although it appears ‘lion tamer’ (frequently quoted in UB/JSA training materials as an unrealistic preferred area of job search by UB/JSA claimants when considering the ‘actively seeking work’ condition) may no longer be included ....
No longer restricted to just lions:
Trains animals to perform entertaining routines and may perform with them
All we used to get was car park attendant… Reminds me of a Monty Python sketch in which an accountant (Arthur Pewty?) seeks to become a lion tamer. I also understand that the tree surgeon trade is flourishing at the mo (buttered scones optional).

Interestingly Shawn’s last link if you click on it says ‘Work you could do’ is temporarily unavailable’.

Fortunately the sites above are temporarily unavailable ( I wonder why?) and Shawn is thus spared the temptation of leaving Rightsnet to become a Stripper or indeed a Clapper Boy
The one that I saw that I quite fancied was ‘Impressario’ ...
... although, once again, ‘Find a job’ is no help: https://findajob.dwp.gov.uk/search?q=Impressario&w=

DWP Advice Site Lists ‘Striptease Artist’ As Possible Work For Universal Credit Claimants

It’s not beyond the bounds of possibility that Tory ministers would make up a large percentage of the clientele, if one considers their reputations.
