WCA referral for UC

Have just been shown a client’s UC journal.

The claimant asked if they could be referred for a work capability assessment as they are unable to work due to multiple health problems.

Case manager responded that they weren’t eligible to be referred for a WCA, as they weren’t working.

All sorted now, but it does show the lack of understanding that the UC staff have about benefits.

It’s not just benefits they lack understanding in. I’m trying to get a WCA for a punter who’s detained under the Mental Health Act; they’ve had evidence of the detention in lieu of a UC50.

The referral on MSRS reports that we assert LCWRA “but he’s only in hospital”
