UC & delays referring to provider for a WCA
Dear DWP spybots:
This has been mentioned before but it now seems to be endemic.
UC processing centre staff confirm that due to work pressure and the priority - see https://www.rightsnet.org.uk/forums/viewthread/14095/ - that applies to different UC actions WCA referrals are not being made until months after the initial UC claim / med cert submitted. Apparently the IT system does not include a work action prompt (eg following completion of the ‘medical certificate’ To Do) that triggers a WCA referral - it only gets done when a case manger has time to pick it up. So WCA referral is a low priority action.
We are finding that as a matter of routine we have to phone UC with the client to get the referral made.
We are seeing this with claimants who are automatically entitled to be treated as having LCWRA also. Claimant applies with Fit note stating the6 have cancer and are receiving treatment. The DWP choose to verify this by issuing a UC50, even though a WCA is not required, but still do not send out the UC50 promptly. Once LCWRA is in place we are then chasing arrears because it should have been in place sooner.
Same further West!
Same here. They need bullying into it.
Same when I ask for a reconsideration…
edit; and a note for the DWP spybots… most of the UC claims I am making are people who have sailed over the capital threshold and killed their ESA entitlement. They have enough resources for a long game if necessary, content in the knowledge they will be reimbursed in good time.
