New tax credit claims where pension credit includes child element

Suppose after 31 Jan, a pension credit claimant becomes responsible for child/qualifying young person and so gets a child element in their pension credit. (Assume they had no previous entitlement a tax credits.)

If they subsequently take up work and want to claim WTC there’s nothing to stop them at the moment, is there?

And if they do they’ll be claiming WTC+CTC and the PC child element will stop, is that right?

Come on Jon, it’s a Friday for goodness sake.

I think you might be correct on this though, although as per my response to other thread about WTC, until we have sight of the legislation, it’s pretty difficult to say.
