Claims closed for non- attendance at ID and claimant commitment interviews

Good afternoon.  Can anyone advise what is the latest on this issue?

I recall a while back a CPAG WR Bulletin article and some correspondence with Neil Couling?  But is this still going on, has it been raised with Ministers etc?  Does it feature in the safeguarding guidance?

I have a case of it where no opportunity given to explain or put right the non-attendance.  I can research but if anyone can help quicker would be most grateful.

Hi Sarah
Don’t know if this helps your particular case but we do have a couple of standard letters (UC CP7 for failure to attend claimant commitment and UC CP8 for failure to attend ID).

It’s certainly still giong on. We’ve had a tranche under appointeeship.

The irony is that under the verification process, if a person fails the biographical interview they will write to GP or similar, but they won’t accept a Corporate PAB confirming ID at the outset.

It’s a joke!

Hi mycatismo I don’t have access to your website anymore but would love to see your standard letters

Dan … do you know what the guidance says and what happens when you challenge?

Hi Dan - we’ve only had one so far so hardly statistically significant but they did accept ID verification based on biographical questions from the corporate appointee.

Think we’re both due to attend the APAD working group meeting in Birmingham soon - lots to discuss..
