Legal aid ‘deserts’ make human rights unenforceable
New report from the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights -
Large areas of the country are “legal aid deserts”, as practitioners withdraw from providing legal aid services since they can no longer afford to do this work.

The government has published its response to the Joint Committee’s report.

... the Government is looking to the future to establish how best we can empower people to resolve their problems in a modern justice system. This will include consideration of the broader landscape and how people are supported to use both the courts, and alternative means of problem resolution.
