I am sorry but I just have to rant about some of the decisions being made by healthcare practitioners recently – this is the second Cl I have seen in the last two weeks with a severe long term illness, whereby the Cl has been awarded 0 points.

In this recent decision the Healthcare ‘Professional’ states - ‘it is considered that a wheelchair could be obtained through the NHS Wheelchair Service if required, the use of a wheelchair would enable the person to mobilise so that they are able to engage in the labour market.  If the claimant has an inability to store the wheelchair at home (which would be a problem), it would be reasonable for the wheelchair to be stored at the employer’s premises if necessary’.

Err does this not slightly defeat the object of the claimant not being able to get to work if he is unable to mobilise without a wheelchair!?

Seriously - what is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????

Here’s a few

Assessed for wheelchair use
Mobilise using a wheelchair 50/100/200 etc
Propel a wheelchair
Unassisted
Safely
Reliably
Repeatedly
Effectively
Reasonable standard
Reasonable timescale
Exercise tollerance
Majorityof time
Majority of occasions

But of course, the HP considred all this, didn’t he/she ...on page 2 of the ESA85

“Having considered the variability and taking into consideration” ...blah ...blah ...blah!

Makes my blood boil !
