Hello rightsnet!

We are looking at the possibility of generating a standard MR/review request template letter for (CAB) advisers to use and adapt. I knew I had seen such a thing here somewhere, and have found Neil Bateman’s excellent example from 2014 here: https://www.rightsnet.org.uk/forums/viewthread/5586/P30/#25538

Do any other folk also have a standard MR request template that they use? If so please post links or upload them (anonymised, of course). The more the merrier. Or feel free to point me to the probable thread from last month where they already are (I did look for it first, I promise).

Also, is anyone just using the DWP one? It is here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/683380/if-you-disagree-with-a-decision-made-by-dwp.PDF. Any experiences of using that would also be very welcome, especially from full service areas.

Thanks in advance.

Jon

Hi Jon

This is an adapted MRC request which was taken from Advisernet (seems to have been removed now) the original was supplied by Leicester CAB if I remember correctly

Thanks awfully Matt. That is slightly less embarrassing than if it had still been up on AdviserNet! It is also a good starting point for tracking down whether that page still exists somewhere in the etherial archive…

Hi Jon

At the last operational stakeholder’s meeting we had a bit about the new MR form on gov.uk. There are problems with it - for example, it currently doesn’t ask for the date of decision. However, the plan is that the form will be recognised at mail sorting which means it will get through to the appropriate section much quicker than an ordinary letter so there may be advantages to using it, although this isn’t in place yet.

They also said there may be an online version at some point

The DWP one is okay but lacks space to give full grounds for a challenge in section 4. I find I am quite often having to continue and complete this in the “further information” section which is a pain, but not an insurmountable problem!
