DWP using PIP renewal to trigger UC claim for Carers

Three of these in the last week.

We went to UC full service in this area in October. Since then we are noticing clients attending having been invited to reclaim PIP at the end of their award, without having been sent a review or renewal pack. The knock on effect is that the inevitable delay in processing the new claim leads to the stopping of Carers benefits (CA/IS) for the carer, necessitating them claiming UC. It appears to be a strategy to “kill off” claims for legacy benefits for carers.

Anyone else getting these?

Not an answer to your question but the carers should be able to continue to claim IS for 26 weeks (although not CA) as a carer on the basis that PIP claim is in - see CPAG pg 104
