Employment Service Allowance

We have a client who has an active Employment Service Allowance claim giving her £20 a fortnight in travel expenses. The DWP have told her because she receives this she cannot receive JSA. They are, however, unable to tell us exactly what Employment Service Allowance is.

The nearest we can work out is that it’s some sort of training benefit. The only reference to it we have found however is from 2002 and a notice which says it’s been replaced by Jobcentre Plus Allowance.

Does anyone have any idea what Employment Service Allowance is and what affect it has on current JSA claims?

Much obliged

Appeal. Then they will have to explain the law to the judge or at least to you (if they can work out what it is).
