Hi,

I’m working with a client who has lost his entitlement to the Family Premium following a change to his earnings.  Is this correct or should he have retained entitlement? There have been no breaks in his claim.

Thanks

JK

The Family Premium can only be lost if:

- the claimant is no longer responsible for a child or YP, or
- a new HB claim is made.

This means that a closed period superseding decision, where entitlement is extinguished for an isolated past period without disturbing the current award, will not break entitlement to the Family Premium because no new claim is required.

Has there been any change affecting responsibility for a child - absence from household for more than 52 weeks for example?

Hi,

No, the child has remained as part of the household.  Do you think maybe someone’s pressed the wrong button?
