Looking like a great day in prospect at this year’s CPAG Scotland Welfare Rights Conference ...

CPAG in Scotland Welfare Rights Conference - 19 May 2017, Glasgow

This year sees new child poverty and social security bills before the Scottish Parliament – with huge significance for all those providing advice and supporting families. Jeane Freeman, Minister for Social Security, will be speaking at our conference on 19 May in Glasgow setting out how she sees the role of social security in tackling child poverty, and what the role is for advice workers in ensuring families get the financial support they are entitled to. We will hear the latest on the progress of the proposed social security bill and new Scottish Social Security Agency.

To draw out the link between children’s rights, welfare rights and new social security powers we are also delighted to welcome the new Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland, Bruce Adamson, for what will be his first keynote address on taking up post.

CPAG in Scotland’s conference will give delegates an opportunity to hear about the latest developments and implications for their work.
