Has anyone tried getting the child element for a UC claimant where the carer isn’t getting CB? Child has been placed with relatives but mother still claiming CB and although a competing CB claim is being put in this can take ages. I seem to remember that CTC would take other proof that child a child was residing with someone other than CB recipient i.e. letter from social worker, school etc. Has anyone any experience with this with UC?

Yes we have had a case where CTC was previously in payment for the children, and the claimant has been asked to provide all those proofs again to UC - exactly as you have said - SW letter, school/GP letters.
