This may be a stupid question but…
client claims contributory ESA (or new style) in full service area , is WRAC payable if just contributory ESA entitlement or only SC?

Its always good to double check….there’s no WRAC in new style ESA (for new claimants after 3 April). So, unless claim can link back to pre-abolition (three month backdate for example could do this?) your client will only get basic allowance unless in support group. Summary of this is in the new CPAG handbook p638/9.

Client did have a very brief claim (which she closed) before the April deadline but was not assessed as having LCW so don’t think linking rules apply

Sounds like a backdated claim to 2 April or earlier is route forwards… but also worth checking if linking rules can offer protection though, as still possible to get WRAC if can link back to an earlier (pre April) assessment phase award that didn’t run for 13 weeks, and reclaim is within 12 weeks of first claim ending…
