This is from a letter from DWP:

I understand from your letterdated 17th8/21, that you wish to backdate your ESA C
claim to 200712008. ln order for this to be considered, we need you to provide;

1. Proof of when your working hours reduced to less than 16 perweek. You would
not be eligible to claim ESA if you were working 16 or more hours per week.

2. Any additional medical evidence from your MS specialist nurse or GP confirming
your limited capa.city for work and the deterioration in your condition since your
working hours reduced to less than 16 perweek.

3. A letter requesting your ESA is.backdated to when your working hours reduced to
less than 16 per week. lf you can provide any further reasons for not claiming
ESA prior to 1210112018 not already mentioned in your letter dated 1718121.
When we have received all of the above, we will ask our decision makers to make a
backdating decision. This can take up to 10 working days from the date of referral. lf
backdating.is allowed, this will change the RITYs we use for assessing your entitlement and
may allow us to pay you ESA C.

I am questioning my sanity… Am i right to do so or is there something fundamental I’m missing?
