Child 19 and child element

Hi All

I have a client whose son was 19 on 31/3/2022. His college course ends on 24/6.
Am I right in assuming that child element will be payable until 31/8?
If so, he started working FT at the beginning of May. Unlike child benefit, I cannot see that this would impact on entitlement to the child element. Is this right?

Many thanks

I’d say he ceases to be a QYP as soon as he is no longer enrolled on a non-advanced course.  If the course carried on into the 22/23 academic year, he’d remain a QYP until the end of August.

But the flip side is that, depending how much he earns, he could be eligible for UC himself - probably over scale if he is working full time though.

Thanks HB Anorak.

You’re right, income will be too high for UC.
