Yes folks after 40+ years working with the benefits system (with a few years off for good behaviour) its time to hand in my Sweet & Maxwell’s and retire!

Cheers to all of you I have shared a beer with over the years and good health to all of you I would like to have shared a drink with but never got the chance (moves off quietly stage left to avoid those I still owe a beer too).

[departing though] will UC be fully rolled out (inc HC’s in PC) before a Govt makes major reforms to UC to make it ‘fit for the 2nd qtr of C21’?

Ah Peter, have a cracking retirement, you deserve it. You were clearly an outstanding advocate and your insight and humour on this site will be sadly missed. All the very best, Billy

All the best, Peter! Thanks for your help on many issues.

Prediction: I shall be retired (another 8 years) before UC is ‘fully ‘rolled out’. But DWP will continue claiming total, brilliant success.

Enjoy your retirement Peter, it’s been good to meet and work with you in the past and hope you can let go of social security for once and for all.

All the very best Peter - you’ll be missed - I think our paths did cross a few times in real life (?) but, rather remissly, I don’t think we ever had a beer - which is surprising given my tendency to head to the pub at any opportunity ;)

Enjoy!

Enjoy your retirement Peter.  You have left us some important UT decisions - your patch has been quite a fertile source of interesting cases with not-your-average-two-bit-district-council included in the jurisdiction.  Thanks for your thoughtful ad wise contributions over the years

Peter-

I think I can talk on behalf of everyone at Child Poverty Action Group here. We wish you all the best.

Over the years you have been fantastic to work with.

I think several of our test cases have been brought as you tracked down cases. CPAG will really miss your insight and knack for spotting points.

And obviously there is all the fantastic advocacy you have done over the years as well.

Claimants have really benefitted from having you plugging away.

If retired life ever takes you to London and you fancy a beer with some of those who have not yet hung up their Sweet and Maxwells you are always welcome - just drop me an email.

Ciao for now.

Martin.
