Single mother in receipt of LCWRA on her UC claim. Not working.

Can she get the Childcare Element?

No, she needs to be working or have an offer of work starting before end of your next AIP, see p.73 of CPAG 21/22.

You can’t, as a single person, get the childcare element to partially meet your childcare costs unless you are working.

Does anyone know the logo/reason (if there is one) for a single person with LCW/LCWRA not being able to claim childcare but a couple being allowed to claim childcare if one party works and the other has LCW/LCWRA (or is a carer)?
