The child would not automatically receive German citizenship so it would be difficult for her to take the infant to Germany, should this be the only option.

I know from the experience of family and friends that German nationality law can be complicated but in this case, as long as she registers the birth with a German Mission in the UK within a year, the child will have German nationality. Good old Brexit. If only the Labour Government had the courage to do the right thing.
