Asylum support increase following recent High Court judgment
Anyone got any thoughts or pointers on this?
In the High court in December, the Home Secretary agreed to make an immediate increase in the asylum support rate by 10.1% on an interim basis (see para 96)
.. and there were reports (for example this from Asylum Matters) that the increase to £45 a week happened on 9 January 2023.
However, while I thought that there might need to be new regs to introduce the change, I can’t see anything new here: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/primary+secondary?title=Asylum%20support
(Plus the gov.uk page here still references a weekly rate of £40.85.)
Anyone point me to whether the new rate was brought in, and if so by what mechanism?
Cheers in advance ... Shawn
