‘Tom Stafford explains the social and unconscious biases which affect Judges just as they affect all human beings. He outlines some practical strategies which can be deployed to mitigate, insulate and remove bias. To be effective, such strategies need to be applied at the personal, interpersonal and institutional levels. Thus he provides a helpful 3 x 3 grid on which we can outline the techniques we use to combat our own biases’
