Shares in government contractor Capita plunged 40% after it issued a shock profits warning and suspended its dividend payments just weeks after the collapse of construction firm Carillion.

In the latest blow to the outsourcing sector, Capita’s new boss unveiled a radical overhaul of the group’s finances, giving a damning assessment of a company that he said had become “too complex” and lacking in discipline.

From 2010

Mr Pindar, 51, told workers he was only paid a weekly wage of £14,500.

Mr Pindar, who drives an Aston Martin, spent 20 minutes explaining to work that he was paid £768,750 in 2009 and brought a copy of the firm’s audited accounts to prove it.

With that thread title I thought we were embarking on a long overdue Rightsnet tribute to Mark E Smith. I was going to ask Shawn to correct it to “...ah!”

Meanwhile ..

Details have emerged of collapsed construction giant Carillion’s contracts with the Ministry of Justice, including a ‘minor’ contract worth £15,000 a month to provide a citizen helpline service to the Legal Aid Agency.

Exactly what has been in my head today :)

If nothing else the death of MES has enabled me to get the 12 year old singing “I’m totally wired”. Probably won’t go down well in school but then that’s a good thing, ah.

I’ve a friend who has only ever emailed me when he can include lyrics from Fall songs.
