We provide alarms to owner occupiers. Can anyone tell me if this charge would be covered by Income Support? It cannot be covered by Supporting People as this only covers the HB cases.

The charge will definitely not be covered by income support as there is no scope for that type of thing. However, the Social Fund may be able to oblige with a community care grant if the client falls within the high priority groups and their need for the alarm satisfies the aims of the grant.

Alarm costs are treated as a Disability Related Expenditure when calculating client contributions for SP or home care charges.
