Tax credits and CSA
Fri 15-Jan-10 02:29 PM

Hello all

Can CSA arrears be deducted from working tax credits. I know that tax credits are normally pretty well protected from direct payments being deducted from them for other benefit overpayments/arrears etc, however CSA seem to have so many special beneficial (to them) rules nowadays I thought I better check. One of those questions a client asked, which I thought would be easy to find the answer, but wasn't.

Hi,
I have just read Adviser magazine (publication 137) if you have access to this it has a very lengthy piece on enforcement of child support debt. It does not list tax credits as an income source that CSA (or CMEC) can deduct from.
