criminal compensation payments

Can anyone confirm if compensation payments are ignored for Income Support, Housing and Council Tax Benefit purposes?

I am aware that if a trust fund is set up then the money will be ignored..Does a client have to have a trust fund for this payment to be ignored as capital?

many thanks

Nishma

Yes, it does need to be in a trust fund to be ignored - and a certian type of fund at that.

See page 976 and following of CPAG handbook for further guidance.
