this reproduced (without editing) from www.samedayloansforpeopleonbenefits.co.uk

'Same Day Loans for People on Benefits.Co.UK is about making the process of getting a loan for the disabled people as simple as it possibly can be. We are committed towards paying all the attention that the physically challenged people need while they apply for a loan. To let them have smoother accessibility of the benefit loans, we have designed some very useful products ...

If you are physically challenged person and need a quick loan for paying off some unexpected bills or even for regular expenses, then you can rely on loans for people on benefits. These loans have been launched in the UK marketplace by samedayloansforpeopleonbenefit.co.uk with aim of providing timely monetary help to the physically challenged people.

Loans for the people on benefits are meant for those who are getting benefit amount under the DSS (Department of Social Security). They get a certain amount of money from the department each month. So, they can repay the loan on the day of getting the benefit. But the applicants should be having some amount of around £500 in their savings to get these loans. They can borrow any amount up to £1000 and little higher depending on their repayment capability.'

Words fail me. How about this for a sweeping generalization stigmatising all disabled people as bad debtors? “A physically challenged person usually does not have a great repayment capability and he or she is most likely to default or make late payments on any loan”.

And as for the terminology “physically challenged”, “the DSS” and from elsewhere on the site this: “with a bad credit history, the UK people can borrow money in secured or unsecured options as per their circumstances”.

It sounds like a foreign company trying to move into the British loans market on a commission basis.

Much more seriously, the information required to apply for a loan is perfect for identity theft or account access. I don't see anywhere any statement about regulation by OFT or FSA nor is a consumer credit licence referred to, that I can see.

I'd worry about fraud.

I've emailed link to the FSA to ask if they were aware of their activities and if they are regulated. Will post reply when I get one.

I suspect that they would fall under the OFT and CC Act.

Whoever wrote it - you said you didn't edit it - doesn't even speak English as a first language. It's not only ill-informed, it's illiterate.

and the press - financial journalists. feel sure the Guardian would be interested, and you could even get the red tops interested as it's clearly a site designed to rip off their readers.....

I did a search at Companies House and discovered that a company called same day loans went belly-up in 2006, and another with a similar name in 2008, but there is no company whose name starts "same day loans" currently registered in this country.

From the websire (whose English is even more fractured than the sample Shawn quoted) it isn't just disabled benefit claimants, but people "on bad credit" as well. I couldn't see an address anywhere. Also (if it's the same site) the "contact us" proforma starts with first line "Company" and second line "Contact".....

Would anyone like to be a scambuster and pretend to apply????
