Another website charging for benefits advice
Mon 14-Sep-09 01:08 PM

Anyone heard of this lot:

http://www.ibassist.co.uk/page/Home/

Mentions they have access to doctors and medical professionals. Can anyone remember about a couple of ex-Atos doctors who were touting a similar service a while back?

that link doesn't work for me ... maybe try this one http://www.ibassist.co.uk/

they say ....

'We charge a realistic fee for our service which is refundable minus a small charge for administrative costs if your claim is unsuccessful, so what is there to lose?'

.... IB Assist request the sum of £35.00 prior to issuing our ESA (or IB) Questionnaire (with postage-paid addressed envelope) for completion.

.... In the event of a Client being turned down for ESA (Support Group and Work-related activity group) or Incapacity Benefit following the claim going to appeal, IB Assist will offer a refund less a £10.00 administration fee, once written evidence has been received of the unsuccessful appeal.'

According to this article in community care by Gary Vaux this is the same organisation set up by the two atos doctors. They have since resigned as directors and it is now run by a company that disinfects burger vans.

Gary commented that the DWP may not take much account of a doctor who hasn't actually seen the patient and I couldn't help but reflect (with that resigned sigh that welfs are so good at) that the DWP often do exactly that when they ask for advice from a 'Health Care Professional
