Fit notes?

With the intoduction of 'fit notes' from today does the Med 3 cease to exist. What impact will this have on our advice to clients?

The old Med 3, Med 4, Med 5 and Med 6 (which allowed an imprecise diagnosis) forms have all been withdrawn. The only similar form remaining is the Med 10, which is used when someone is admitted to hospital as an in-patient.

Interestingly, the new Fitness for Work Certificate is numbered Med 3 04/10. DWP has produced some leaflets explaining the new system, available at http://www.dwp.gov.uk/fitnote/ The best information is in the leaflet directed to GPs.
