I have a client with a critical illness policy. Rec'd interim payments pending a final decision following onset of disability. What would be the correct treatment of these payments for HB/CTB and indeed IS? Are such payments payments "under" the policy given that at that stage no liability was accepted and there is no reference to interim payments within the policy that I have spotted yet?

Premiums have continued to be paid, which is interesting given that the policy specifies that payments cease once it has been agreed that there is a liability to pay.

Once liability has been accepted (and it has finally) how should the payments under the policy be treated for each means-tested benefit listed above.
