Backdated IS when granted ILR
Wed 03-Nov-04 11:12 AM

Hiya, I have a client who has been granted ILR and has processed his claim for backdated IS. The DWP have correctly deducted the NASS support he received whilst his asylum claim was being decided by the Home Office.

However, they are also wishing to recoup a further amount of NASS which was paid to the Refugee Housing Association providing accommodation for my client and numerous others. They are trying to recoup the whole of the rent and utility bills despite the fact that there were numerous other asylum seekers living in the same property and seem to only be targeting my client for payment.

Has anyone else had this type of problem??
