Tax Credits & ESA
Thu 21-Aug-08 01:53 PM

Hello All,
Just checking that I haven't missed this. Have there been any regulations re changes to Tax Credits linked to ESA? I'm thinking of the disabaility element in particular but there are a few other bits and pieces like being treated as in work.
Cheers
M

In force from the 27 October 2008, the Employment and Support Allowance (Consequential Provisions) (No.3) Regulations 2008 (SI.No.1879/2008) aim to ensure that ESA claimants will be treated in the same way in relation to tax credits, social security and other matters as claimants of incapacity benefits.

The amendments to and tax credit (and social security) regulations are summarised in the 21 July 2008 rightsnet news story -

Introduction of employment and support allowance from October 2008: New statutory instrument

SI.No.1879/2008 itself is available here.
