CCG for dishwasher
Fri 29-Apr-05 09:02 AM

Our grants team has had a letter asking for an RNIB grant for a replacement dishwasher for a registered partially sighted woman, partial hearing, 'problems with mobility and co-ordination', epilepsy and hydrocephalus. Dishwasher beyond the cost of reasonable repair. Letter is brief but her husband is her carer and they have 4 children (ages not known). Income: IS, CA, CB and DLA.

Does anyone have any positive or negative experience of applying for community care grant for a dishwasher?

I did manage to obtain a CCG for a dishwasher for a client. She was in her thirties and had a CVA, which left her with very poor mobility and a weakness down one side of her body. Her husband was her main carer and they had three children.
I put in the application in a spirit of optimism rather than with any expectation of success! Wish I'd put a bet on!
