Terminal school leaving date for 19 year olds/IS for parents Fri 17-Jul-09 09:46 AM
Could someone confirm the following :
19 year old in Special school from before their 19th birthday , parents still receive Income Support for the young person as they did not switch to Child tax credits.
The young person will not enter any other educational course in September and they already start to attend adult day service provision during the holiday
1 Would the terminal date of 31/8 for child benefit still stands ?
2. If it does, could the parents still continue to receive the child additions for them till 31/8 although it is certain that they will not re enter education ?
If the parents can continue to claim till 31/8 than they are at least given some longer time before they suffer the drop to ESA for their disabled children
I am looking at Reg 7(1) of the child benefit regs and I believe the claim for child ben could defenitely continue as long as the young person is not aged 20. I am not absolutely sure if ncome Support would automatically follow?
As always many thanks in advance for the additioal brain power
