We have an appeal lodged against a Pension credit decision. We've sent off the Authority with the letter of appeal etc.

For various reasons we now need to speak to someone about the appeal so we rang the 0845 6060265 number, only to be told that:

"We don't have an Appeals section as such...".
"So who deals with appeals then ?"
"Don't really know....."
"Can you find out ?..."

long silence ............

"I don't know the number of the person you need to speak to - can I have your number and phone you back when I find it out ?......"

"do you mean to say that there is only one person who can deal with appeal enquiries, and that's what you tell every one who asks ....?

"Are you going to give me your number so that I can get back to you or not ...?"

Most of our work is with DLA/AA, so haven't recently got involved in PC appeals - does anyone perchance has any numbers which will short cut the above, or is that actually the case......

Nice lady, very nice Lady rang back - expressed surprise at the course of the above conversation.................

Anyway, it transpires there are three appeal units within Burnley -

a. The new Pension credit claims appeals
b. The existing claims appeals and ....
c. State Pension appeals.

Still didn't get a direct line number from her though ..........

I have a current case with the IPC Pension Service, Appeals Team, same address - (duffer - i don't know what IPC stands for but it might be connected to internation queries, going by the e-mail address, which you may not want), but there is a telephone no. - (0192) 21 82724 and a fax number (0121) 21 82724. They are probably close by and can give you the number you want.
