I have a tenant who is 16yrs and 6months pregnant. The problem is that she left home about 2 months ago and became independant from her parents, her parents are still claiming the CHB (extended period)for her which is stopping her claiming a higher rate of benefits with her boyfriend who she is now living with.

I have tried to ring the CHB to inform them and on each differnent call they have said different things like:

they cannot take queries over the phone (?!)

they cannot take any of the deatils from me (even though I have a signed authority form)

they cannot trace the claimant or her mother

they cannot do a name or an address search

the list goes on and on and on.........

I'm having the right run around and if anyone knows the CHB system, I would be grateful for some clarification on what exactly the CHB CAN do.....
