Came across this one recently and it seemed very unfair. A man of 64 with a daughter aged 18 still at school , in her final year of sixth form , has been refused his normal maintenance grant for his daughters education , because previously he received Income Support , ticked the relevant box on the claim form and didn't have to disclose his income. His IS was then changed to Pension Credit in October last year and he then had to disclose his income , as he was no longer in receipt of IS.The income he disclosed was above the limits for an award of a grant and so this year he has to do without. It was worth £700 a year before! I can't imagine his award of PC was that much more than his previous IS award , but it didn't cut any ice with the education dept I spoke to. Can anyone advise??
