Let me give you a scenario... I think it's a little bit hopeless but see what you think.

Mother, seperated from husband (not divorced) since April 2005, looking after 3 kids. Eldest died of cancer in Feb 2006. Father returned to household for final weeks of his life and JCP were fully aware of this. Mother receiving IS and CA as a single person.
Father had to give up work for the duration of his stay at the house and was not paid any wages/sick pay/etc. but the job was there for him to go back to when the child passed away.

SF have decided he was not estranged and was not in receipt of a qualifying benefit so he could pay for the funeral. Seems a little harsh to me as he was not getting any income for weeks before the funeral. I can see the point from both sides but can't seem to find an angle to argue against DM.

Any thoughts would be gratefully received.
