tax credits and CCG's
Fri 31-Oct-08 11:29 AM

Hi Everyone this is proabably quite straight forward and i thought i will ask for reassurance. I have a couple who is receving working tax and child tax. She has four children which two of them are disabled. Her washing machine and dryer has broken down which she really needs for her disabled child and baby but cant afford it. I was looking into CCG for her but it says the qualifying benefits are PC or IS. She is not receiving them so she wont be entitled to it.
Any suggestions will be helpful

regards
Ash

No luck I'm afraid it's the IS, PC, IB-JSA etc. only.

Have you tried the charities route?

Childrens' Services as there are disabled children?

If there are links to any specific occupations, many have some sort of benevolent society linked to them, and my experience is they are usually swimming with cash and don't know what to do with it. This however is not a lot of use if you have no such society. But I once got £20 a week for 2 years out of a bookseller's benevolent society for a lass who used to work at WH Smith, for example.

Well she could apply for a Crisis Loan but obviously it would need paying back. You do not have to be on a qualifying benefit to apply for a Crisis Loan.
