the local government association is preparing a response on behalf of its member authorities to the select committee's inquiry, and are asking for local auths to contact them, by 19th September 2005, with any comments or case studies that could usefully be included in its submission

from the work and pensions committee last week -

'Following publication of DWP's Green Paper on welfare reform, which is expected shortly, it is the Committee's intention to invite further written evidence to our inquiry into the reform of incapacity benefits and Pathways to Work.

Short papers will be welcome from those who have already submitted evidence and from other interested parties. The Committee will issue a further press notice when the Green Paper is published.'
