AT 1 Enquiry forms
Tue 28-Jul-09 09:59 AM

I am sure that I read recently that it is not mandatory that these enquiry forms are returned..a gentleman at Nottingham is adament that it is and that they should be?

Secondly, what's the address to write to to lodge formal complaints about Medical examinations ?

Can't help you with the second query, but following the new tribunal rules T.Service Nottingham will now allow me to complete the enquiry form over the phone so long as I'm already named as rep on the paperwork the've had through from the dept/authority.

Beleve it or not, neither the local office, the BDC nor the DBU knew the answer.

."......I could probably have a stab at the reply you will get as well"

Cynicism before 10am - you've been there before..... Anyway, I've got two cases where the Doctor has given results of a medical examination which in reality the clients are adament never took place.....I don't really expect to get far with the complaints, but they're both the subject of an appeal and the examination findings will naturally form part of the subs.

In psychiatric cases the client may well not recognise it as a medical, more of a friendly chat, at least with a doctor who accepts that there is no point in looking through the physical descriptors at all.

As to the other, I have come across a case where the appellant insisted she had not gone to the medical and knew nothing about it and somebody must have impersonated her (why would anyone do that?)

What I did learn from that was the person being examined has to sign in and produce proof of identity, ideally a driving licence. If the clients are really adamant they never went anywhere near the venue, ask to see the proof of attendance.

,,,In both my cases, the clients did attend, but are quite adament that no physical examination actually took place, even though the subsequent reports gave details of leg raising etc - fortunately, in both instances they had someone with them.
