And another CLS consultation...
Tue 27-Jul-04 09:43 AM

In the plethora of Legal Services Commission consultations currently going on, you may have missed this one which is actually rather more important on a practical level than some of the others.

On a voluntary basis from the present until 17.09.04, and then with mandatory effect from 01.04.05, the LSC will be paying suppliers a set amount per case, regardless of actual time spent on a case or any disbursements incurred. The fixed fee per case will be based on suppliers' average claims in the period 01.04.03 to 31.03.04 plus 2.5%. It is proposed that the current system of contract compliance auditing will become the exception rather then the norm, with performance being monitored in a number of areas including quality of advice delivered and outcomes achieved.

Consultation responses can be sent up until 01.11.04, further details of this consultation available at this link

Again, it would be interesting to hear the views of advisers in LSC-contracted agencies on this proposal.

Just noticed that this consultation is only aimed at solictor suppliers - doh! Doesn't seem to affect NfP agencies at the moment.
