Moving from IS to ESA - mortgage interest help continuous?
Fri 21-May-10 01:19 PM

I have a client who is currently on IS and getting help with her mortgage interest costs. Her circumstances have changed and it look as if she may need to claim ESA instead of IS. If she does have to claim ESA, does a waiting period apply or will she get help with her housing costs straight away? Many thanks

Para 20 of Schedule 6 to the ESA Regs makes it clear that there is linking on moving to IRESA from any other benefit which carries the right to housing costs (the same rules apply to IS/JSA and PC - it works in every direction).
