Invalidity addition with state pension / ESA
Wed 04-Mar-09 01:33 PM

Hello,

I'm currently updating a leaflet about state pension and have a question relating to Employment and Support Allowance.

We currently say that you can get invalidity addition with state pension if you were receiving an invalidity allowance or an age addition with long-term Incapacity Benefit. My question is - is there a similar situation with ESA? If someone receives SDP or EDP with it, will they then be eligible for the invalidity addition?

I can't find any info about this so any links or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sara

I doubt it as there is no age addition under ESA. There has been a problem this year whereby because of the reductions to age additions for IB claimants (as part of the phasing out of these additions), people receiving a state pension with such an addition have also received a reduction in their pension, which DWP say was a mistake and are apparently dealing with at the moment.
