when a tribunal should adjourn a paper hearing
Wed 19-Jan-05 03:19 PM

Following a request from Desmond Rutledge of Garden Court Chambers, the Social Security Commissioners website has agreed to publish a 1999 decision by Commissioner Williams.

CDLA/1552/1998 considers the issue of when it is appropriate for a tribunal to adjourn a paper hearing.

The decision is highlighted in an article by L W Blake in the 2005 Issue 1 edition of Journal of Social Security Law - 'Paper Hearings and Natural Justice'.

A summary of CDLA/1552/1998 is now also available in the briefcase area of rightsnet together with a link to the full decision.

Thanks very much for Desmond to highlighting this to us.
