Partnership working for cancer patients
Mon 16-Apr-07 08:12 AM

I'm looking to find out whether any local authorities or voluntary organisations work in partnership with health boards/PCTs to provide advice services for cancer patients, in particular where the funding for these projects comes from and the length of the funding.

Any information would be gratefully received.

Lynne

We have a benefit adviser funded through macmillan who sees any clients we have with cancer.

I'm not sure this is classed as partnership working as such but she does work closley with GP's and PCT's etc.

Macmillan fund a considerable amount of welfare rights work via both LA and the NFP sector. I've never seen a definitive list, but it might be worthwhile looking at their website.

Hi,
Im a welfare advisor, working in a hospice & in the community.
As this is a brand new post, im not exactly sure of the funding, but its something like this...
my post is funded by the charity at the hospice...my wages and expenses are paid by the LA (social work) & my equipment comes via the PCT.

in case you are wondering i am confused, but it does go to show that joint working between LA & NHS does work!

Hi,

Galliagh Community Development Group, Macmillan Cancer Support and the Western Health and Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland have developed a unique partnership. This partnership is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland providing patients and outpatients of Altnagelvin hospital with immediately accessible information and advice on social security information.
